Research-based: we haven't tested these mowers. How picks are chosen

If your yard's somewhere between a quarter acre and an acre, here's how we'd pick: start with how much grass you've got, then think about your steepest slope. With that in mind, our five picks are the Navimow i210 AWD, the Dreame A3 AWD Pro 2500, the LUBA 3 AWD 3000, the Worx Landroid Vision Cloud WR340 and the Navimow X430.

Up to 0.25 acres if your banks go up to 45% (24°)

The ladder: rated area, then slope

Each current model sits at the lawn size its maker rates it for. The percent next to it is that model's steepest published slope. A solid mark is wire-free. A dashed mark means a boundary wire. A numbered tag marks one of the five picks below.

Husqvarna rates the Automower 420 iQ at 1 acre (43,560 sq ft) and 45% (degrees not published), and 15% at the boundary. Husqvarna also says 0.5 acre for an irregular lawn and 1 acre for systematic mowing. The 410 iQ area note is ±20%. Neither iQ model has a confirmed amazon.com listing, so you won't see an Amazon button for them. The write-up is the Automower iQ review.

Makers usually publish one maximum slope and don't say whether it applies in the middle of your lawn or at the edge. When a model also gives a lower figure for the edge, that's the one to use there. If your bank runs into a bed or a fence, we'd leave some margin, because edges are usually harder.

2. Dreame A3 AWD Pro 2500

If your lawn is about 0.62 acres, your banks are steep, and you'd rather have LiDAR than an RTK antenna, this is the one we'd pick. There's no RTK and no perimeter wire. Drive is all-wheel, with hub motors. The family write-up is the Dreame A3 AWD Pro review.

You can keep two maps, and each map needs its own charging station. Setup can use Bluetooth without Wi-Fi. The 3500 is rated 0.87 acres with a 7.5 Ah battery. The 5000 is rated 1.2 acres with a 10 Ah battery. Dreame doesn't publish a slope figure for the 3500 or the 5000.

Who it is not for

If your yard is hot, full sun, and you need a midday run, if you want a tall cut with the edge mode left on, or if the soil is sandy and the turf stays wet, we'd skip it.

What owners report

In the 2 owner threads we read in October 2026, and one independent review, a few snags came up:

On sale in the US as of Oct 10, 2026. Dreame doesn't have Conditional Approval for new models on the FCC Covered List and Conditional Approvals table, checked Oct 9, 2026. If a model is already authorized, it can keep getting updates until at least Jan 1, 2029 (FCC DA 26-789). You can look up any model's FCC ID in the FCC equipment authorization search.

3. LUBA 3 AWD 3000

If trees cover your lawn and you've got about 0.75 acres, we'd start here. LiDAR, network RTK, and vision are all on the 3000. The standard cut is 1.0–2.7 in. The zones, the battery question, and the other versions are in the LUBA 3 AWD review.

Who it is not for

If you need a cut taller than 2.7 in on the standard version (the high-cut range is 2.2–4.0 in), if your side gate is under 27.6 in, or if you're counting on features Mammotion marks as not available yet, we'd leave it.

What owners report

We read 4 owner threads in October 2026, and to be fair to you, the two things that came up were both problems. A general LiDAR write-up wasn't about the LUBA 3.

It was sold out on the Mammotion US store on Oct 10, 2026. The amazon.com listing was still live.

4. Worx Landroid Vision Cloud WR340

If your banks go up to 30%, we'd look at this for an open acre. Cloud RTK needs no antenna in your yard. Stereo vision is part of the same setup, and Worx says V-SLAM takes over in shade. Wirecutter, updated Aug 3, 2026, suggests a complex lawn closer to a quarter acre than the 1 acre rating. The family write-up is the Worx Landroid Vision Cloud review.

Cut and battery
1.57–3.54 in. 20V 5 Ah PowerShare (swappable with Worx tools). We'd plan on Find My Landroid being included, because the amazon.com comparison chart marks it that way. Wirecutter treats a GPS module as an extra, and neither source states a price.

The WR344 is the 4WD sibling, also rated 1 acre, at 84%. Its listing describes a Cut-to-Zero offset blade. Width 8.7 in and height 1.57–3.54 in are on the amazon.com product information for that listing, as of Oct 13, 2026. A European WR344E listing gives 20 mm to 70 mm, and we wouldn't plan on that range.

amazon.com listing, checked Oct 13, 2026.

Who it is not for

If your yard has a real hill, honestly, we'd skip the WR340. It's two-wheel drive and rated for 30%, so the WR344 (rated for 84%) is the one to look at. And if your lawn's a bit patchy or weedy, its camera can mistake those spots for not-grass. On a very broken-up acre, that 1 acre rating is generous too.

What owners report

Here's what owners reported in the 3 owner threads we read in October 2026, and one independent review. The leaf report is about the older 2023 Vision, so it may not be the same on Vision Cloud.

How to choose

  1. Start with your grass. Measure it in acres and square feet, and take out the house, the drive, and the beds. How big a robot mower do I need?
  2. Then measure your steepest bank as rise over 10 ft, and compare it with the slope column above. Leave extra margin if the steep part is at the edge of your lawn. The hills page converts percent, degrees, and rise.
  3. If trees cover your mower's path, read RTK, LiDAR, or vision and the under-trees page before you pick a network-RTK mower.
  4. Measure your narrowest passage, like a side gate. The X430 body is 24 in. The LUBA 3 gap is 27.6 in. Body width isn't published for the other three picks. The front-and-back guide compares a gap you measure with the figures that are published.
  5. Before you order, read the owner threads on the reviews and see whether each model is on sale.

Questions

How big a mower do I need for a half acre?
Add your front and back grass first. A half acre is 21,780 sq ft. The half-acre page compares the ratings. If your yard has trees or two zones, use the size guide rather than the full rated area. That's where the sizing math lives.
What if the yard is steep?
Compare your bank with the published percent. The WR340 stops at 30%. The i210 stops at 45%. The Dreame 2500 and the LUBA 3000 publish 80%. The X430 publishes 84%. Leave extra margin if the steep part is at the edge of your lawn.
Do I still need a boundary wire?
Not for these five picks. They're wire-free. A wire model is still on the ladder if you want one that doesn't depend on open sky. The dashed marks are those models.
Why is there no score?
You won't find scores here, and here's why: we haven't mowed with these ourselves, so a score would just be made up. What we've done is read the specs and the owner reports, then lined the mowers up by lawn size and slope.
