Can one robot mower do the front yard and the back yard?

Research-based: we haven't tested these mowers. How picks are chosen

Often yes. Add your front grass and your back grass, then measure the narrowest opening between them, gate hardware included. Here's the thing: if that opening is narrower than the published figure, we'd treat the yards as separate maps or as a carry. For two maps, the Dreame A3 AWD Pro 2500 is the model here that publishes two separate maps, and each map needs its own charging station.

Published widths, and what each one is

These are the published widths, and they don't all mean the same thing. The LiDAX Ultra 2000 listing claims paths of 23.6 in. The X430 body is 24 in. The LUBA 3 gap is 27.6 in. The Q110H body is 16.54 in, and that figure is a body width, not a minimum passage.

What each published inch figure means. A wider number isn't automatically the mower you need.

Compare your opening

The gauge says "at least as wide" or "narrower." It doesn't say the mower fits your opening.

Measure the opening your mower has to get through, hardware and all. The result only compares that number with the published figure.

Two maps are not free on every brand

Two maps aren't free on every brand. The Dreame 2500 page says two separate maps, and each map needs its own charging station. A side passage that's too narrow can mean a second dock, not only a second zone name. Body width isn't published for the i210 or the Worx picks.

Area is a separate sum. A half acre of grass is 21,780 sq ft whether or not the mower can drive between your yards. The size guide and the half-acre page cover the rating. Only the opening is the question here.

Questions

Do I add the front yard and the back yard?
We'd add the grass for the rating, then measure your opening. If it's narrower than the published figure, the mower may need a second map, a second dock, or a carry.
Is 24 inches enough for the X430?
24 in is the published body width, and Navimow calls it a hard limit for side passages. The gauge only says whether your opening is at least that wide. It doesn't say the mower fits.
What about a bed I cannot reach without lifting the mower?
We'd treat it as a carry. A bed you can reach only by lifting the mower isn't a second mapped zone.
