If you've got an open acre with steep banks, the X430 is the one in this series we'd look at. It's rated 1 acre (43,560 sq ft) and 84% (40°).

If your side passage is under about 2 ft, if the lawn has no Wi-Fi or cell service, or if you don't want a yearly fee after the free period, we'd skip it.

A yearly fee for Connect+The good news: on the X4, Connect+ is free for your first year on the X430. After that there's a yearly fee, and Segway doesn't say how much, which we'd like to know too. Network RTK is free for life, as long as Segway keeps its cloud running.

Slope and size

The slope we'd plan on is 84%, a rise of 8.4 ft over 10 ft. The rated area is 1 acre. Comfortable for about 0.8 acres with trees or two zones. how we size

Makers usually publish one maximum slope and don't say whether it applies in the middle of your lawn or at the edge. When a model also gives a lower figure for the edge, that's the one to use there. If your bank runs into a bed or a fence, we'd leave some margin, because edges are usually harder.

The X450 is the larger sibling, rated 1.5 acres (65,340 sq ft), with a map maximum of 1.8 acres stated for that model. We couldn't confirm a current amazon.com listing for the X450, so there's no button for it.

Trees and network RTK

If your acre is open, the X430's network RTK is what we'd count on. Vision and a time-of-flight sensor are also on the spec. Network RTK needs Wi-Fi or 4G at the lawn. If canopy covers the path, that can still drop the fix, which is why a wooded acre is a reason to read the LUBA 3 AWD review before this one. The antenna ships in the box and the listing calls it optional.

A 24 in body, and the zone count

The body is 24 in wide, so it won't fit through your gate or side passage if yours is narrower than that. The Home Depot listing gives 120 zones and a battery of 21.6 V, 13 Ah; 110 min runtime. The cut is 17 in wide.

Grass height

Cutting height is 0.75–4 in on the amazon.com listing, and that's the range we'd use. A retailer copy gives 0.8–4 in, so those two don't match. The listing range covers both a short Bermuda cut and a tall St. Augustine cut.

amazon.com listing, checked Oct 10, 2026.

Edges

Segway doesn't publish a distance-from-the-edge figure. Owner threads still describe trimming and missed strips, so we'd keep a string trimmer for the beds. Obstacle clearance is 2.8 in, and the X4 page says up to 5.9 in on gentle slopes.

What owners report

In the 4 owner threads we read in October 2026:

Honest limits

Connectivity and support

Connect+ on the Navimow X4 is free for 1 year on the X430, or 2 years on the X450, and then there's a yearly fee. Network RTK is free for life, as long as Segway keeps its cloud running. The Home Depot X430 listing says one year of free 4G and free lifetime network RTK. Those two pages don't use the same words, and neither one says what the fee costs.

Support outlook

Segway has no FCC Conditional Approval for new models, but models already authorized can keep receiving updates until at least Jan 1, 2029. A secondary article says Segway's US models are already authorized. We couldn't find that on a Segway page, so we wouldn't count on it.

Segway's own site was sold out on Oct 10, 2026. The amazon.com listing was live, so that's where we'd look.

Two other yards

If trees cover your lawn, the LUBA 3 AWD 3000 is the comparison. It's rated 0.75 acres, not a full acre, and it adds LiDAR. LUBA 3 AWD review.

If your banks go up to 30%, the Worx Landroid Vision Cloud WR340 is the open-acre comparison. Worx Landroid Vision Cloud review.

Questions

Will the X430 mow an acre under trees?
The rating is 1 acre, but only if the path can hold a network RTK fix. If canopy covers a large share of your grass, we'd compare the LUBA 3 AWD 3000, which adds LiDAR and is rated for 0.75 acre.
Do I have to install the antenna?
No, you don't have to. The Home Depot listing says the antenna is included and optional. Network RTK still needs Wi-Fi or 4G.
What happens after the free year?
The X4 page says a yearly fee for Connect+ after one year on the X430, or two years on the X450. Network RTK is free for life, as long as Segway keeps its cloud running. Segway doesn't say what the fee is on the X4 page.
