If your acre is one open zone, you'd want a model rated at least 1 acre. If you've got heavy trees, or more than one zone, you'd want a rating of at least 1.25 acres. how we size. The X430, the WR340, and the WR344 are rated 1.0 acre, so they cover an open lawn and miss a tree or two-zone lawn.

Makers usually publish one maximum slope and don't say whether it applies in the middle of your lawn or at the edge. When a model also gives a lower figure for the edge, that's the one to use there. If your bank runs into a bed or a fence, we'd leave some margin, because edges are usually harder.

What the 1.0 acre ratings leave out

Wirecutter, updated Aug 3, 2026, suggests a complex lawn closer to a quarter acre than the WR340's 1 acre rating. That's Wirecutter's note. We wouldn't call the WR340 an award winner.

Wirecutter, The Best Robot Lawn Mowers (updated Aug 3, 2026); Landroid Vision Cloud 1 Acre (WR340 page; series specs), Worx US, checked Oct 10, 2026.

The LUBA 3 AWD 3000 is rated 0.75 acres (32,670 sq ft). It doesn't cover a full acre. It's still the one we'd compare when trees cover a smaller lawn, because it adds LiDAR. The Dreame 2500 is rated 0.62 acres. The i210 is rated 0.25 acres.

The 420 iQ area note says 0.5 acre for an irregular lawn and 1 acre for systematic mowing. We'd use Husqvarna's figure for this model rather than how we size. Husqvarna puts 15% at the boundary beside the higher slope figure, so that higher figure is the interior and 15% is the boundary.

Automower 420 iQ, Husqvarna US, checked Oct 10, 2026.

The X450, the LUBA 5000, the Dreame 5000, and the Husqvarna iQ models above don't have a confirmed amazon.com listing, except where a button appears in the quick pick. The X450 in that box has no button for that reason.
