If you've got an open acre you mow in systematic passes, the 420 iQ is the Husqvarna we'd read. Husqvarna rates it 1 acre (43,560 sq ft) for systematic mowing and 0.5 acre for an irregular lawn, at 45% (degrees not published). 15% at boundary The cut is 1–4 in.

We'd look elsewhere for a steep bank at the edge, for heavy woods unless you add the wire the maker allows, or if you need an amazon.com listing for an iQ model. The 435X AWD is the boundary-wire model here, and it's the one with a button.

The acre is two numbers

The acre is two numbers, and we'd use the one that matches your lawn. Systematic mowing is the 1 acre figure. An irregular lawn is the 0.5 acre figure on the same Husqvarna page. The 410 iQ is rated 0.5 acres and prints ±20% on that area. Heavy trees or two zones are a separate case on the size guide.

15% at the boundary

The boundary is the limit that bites, not the headline slope. The 410 iQ, 420 iQ, and 440 iQ publish 45% and limit the boundary to 15%. A bank that's steep only at the edge can miss the mower even when the middle of your lawn is gentler. The 435 iQ AWD and the 435X AWD publish 70% and 50% at the boundary. Degrees aren't published for these models.

Makers usually publish one maximum slope and don't say whether it applies in the middle of your lawn or at the edge. When a model also gives a lower figure for the edge, that's the one to use there. If your bank runs into a bed or a fence, we'd leave some margin, because edges are usually harder.

Trees and the wire option

If trees cover the path, EPOS can pause, because EPOS is RTK. Owners report pauses under trees. The boundary wire is the option Husqvarna leaves on these models when the sky isn't enough. Radar and ultrasonic aren't a substitute for a clear sky.

What owners report

In the 4 owner threads we read in October 2026:

Running costs

Husqvarna doesn't publish an official cellular price on the US pages we used. The Verge reported Automower Connect as free for life. Blade prices aren't published. The cost-to-own guide keeps those lines out of the yearly sum. A theft feature isn't published either.
